is it me?

Jorge / JT

You ask for " ...I am open to brainstorming ideas that I can implement. Have a look at the Mobile vesion of the site. I think thats where people go these days. Oh, checkout the new Mobnile Version from a smart phone ..."

- You are right about just WHERE everybody is in these times - ON THE PHONE !! If you drive around town and observe the public, you'll see that 85% is stuck with their nose in the iPhone- / Smar Phone-screen

Me, I don' even HAVE Internet omn my phone - so I could not check out your request. As I feel that no phone screen could justifieably show my images ....

You ask for brain-storming, JT?
Well, the first thing that throws me off when I log on to this site, is a series of the same motive - in 10 (not so) different images in a row (!!!) - uploadet by the same member. Nothing is more tedious than to look throug 1 sunseets in a row ... there is not enough diversity in that!

Capisce ..?

In my (humble) opinion ther should be a lower limit that there is today. Certainly, 10 a day seems too much - if members interrest is mainly to FLOOD the Gallery with images that are un-inspirational ...

My 2 cents only ...
Walter

There is not much to figure out, Jt - it's just a phenomena in time.

All the young ones, who grew up with iPhones and Smart phones are on SnapChat, FB and other sites, where they get instant "gratifications" in form of 'Likes' and other "Thump Up"-reactions there ... whatever they do there.

Serious photographers are on the decline - we "old ones" are dying out - we probably have an average age groupe in here that is hovering at 60 to 70 (only my guess, since I am myself 72) and we still take pride in good images, while the younger generations want instant feed-back ....

The world is turning faster and faster and old values are not "in demand" any more. A sad, buth true reality.

P.S.: This is just guessing on my part, but I see how my 2 grand-children (19 and 16) are handling their phones and they are certainly NOT scrutinizing photo-sites ... no, man ....

We just have to keep un truckin' here as long as there is a site like this available!
Best regards from Norway,

Walter

Oh, checkout the new Mobnile Version from a smart phone.

No, its not you, Terence - before that I thought is was me ...!
The decline in interrest is just what is happening all over. I have had a norwegian sites close down on me because of not enough intraction and interrest in the site. Youngster don't frequent this kind of photo-sites - they go to their "own" places like Instagram, FB, etc. where 'Likes' are the easy way out ...

It's not you.  "ALL" of the te sister sites like zeissimages, leicaimages etc .... also have seen a tremendous downturn in activity. I wonder if it is search engine related or what. I can't figure it out.

I think the layout is nice and modern and provides a pleasant viewing experience. Am I wrong? Could that be a factor? let me know what you think.
