Subject: monitor for photo work

This may be a little off-topic. I currently have a huge NEC tube that I use for Lightroom and Photoshop. I think it might be time to switch to a flatscreen. I see that most new flatscreen monitors are 1920X1080 (1080P). My current desktop is 1600X1200, and I'd like to have at least 1200 pixels vertical in a widescreen monitor. I'm also worried about color accuracy. Any good (non-Mac) suggestions? I'm planning on keeping it for a long time, so I'm willing to pay a little more. Thanks.

I use Dell U2410 (24" 1920x1200) for now. After calibration - just a blowmind results! And price of this display is not so blowmindexpensive as of Mac, or NEC pro's. :)
The only "con" is that fact, that not all of these displays are well made. In some cases tint, color-shifting, disering can inform about themselves. But, after all, last(A02) revision has very little percent of "lacked".

Well, yo could always just buy the Mac 27" display which is just fantastic. This way you only get a display :)
