Walter, this is a nice informal portrait, that could have been improved by pumping up the ISO enough to allow you to shoot wide open to shallow up the depth of field and eliminate somewhat the distracting background. Alternately, cropping vertically both in front of, and behind the subject would get rid of the people in the background. Robert

Of all the photos I've seen on this site, this shot is by far my favorite, and in my opinion one of the very best. The highest compliment I can pay another photographer about one of their photos is to say " I wish I had taken that", which is what I say every time I view this shot. It is sharp, well composed, with wonderfully shallow depth of field, and contains all the essential elements. It is an outstanding image. Robert

Thanks Terence, I appreciate the compliment. I'd really like to hear why you like the picture, as opposed to just telling me that you do. Robert

Excellent action shot. Well seen and captured. Tells a great story as all good PJ and candid street work must do. Robert

Thanks Ivan. I always loved Gene Smith's shot, and this paid homage to him, (although his photo was more dramatic than mine). Robert

Herbert, Thank you for the kind words. I too love the look of Ektachrome, and all E-6 stocks for that matter. Which is why I only shoot colour slide and not Digital of any kind. Robert

Terence, Thanks for commenting. This was nothing more than a bit of theatre. None of the three was actually naked. Truly, I felt sorry for the poor photographer who was given this wonderful assignment by his newspaper to cover on a Saturday. Waste of time for all involved. I grabbed this shot and then moved on to more fertile photographic pastures. Robert

Jorge, The nights were cool, but not cold. I think his posture indicates a mental rather than physical blocking out of his day to day reality. Thanks for commenting. Robert

mitresg, Thanks for commenting. Lost yes, but not abandoned, as she seems to be surrounded by many who we simply can't see. Robert

This is an excellent image. Well seen and captured. The subject's posture and facial expression make the shot, and to that end I think the composition would be stronger if the image was cropped. At the very least, removing slice from the left hand side up to the edge of the building and cropping down to the bottom of the bright area at the far left to eliminate background that adds nothing to the shot. Additionally, the image should be rotated slightly clockwise to straighten the verticals. Robert

Ulysses, Thanks for the kind words. I shoot nothing but colour slide film. Just can't wrap my head around this Digital business. Don't even own a Digital camera. Robert (RBSinTo)
