Thypoch has announced the Simera 50mm f/1.4, a fast manual-focus prime lens for Nikon Z-mount mirrorless cameras. The lens is also being offered in Leica M-mount, expanding the company’s growing lineup of vintage-inspired optics.

Known for producing affordable yet high-quality manual primes, Thypoch continues to position itself as an alternative to Voigtländer, delivering lenses with a similar tactile shooting experience at a lower price point.

Thypoch is excited to announce their latest prime, the Simera 50mm f/1.4 Lens for the Nikon Z. An outstanding large-aperture lens with a vintage design, this normal-length fully manual prime is perfectly suited for street, portrait, and run-and-gun filmmaking uses. The design pays homage to 1960s-era optical classics and merges seamlessly with Z-mount Nikon cameras. Equipped with ultra-high quality aspherical lens elements and a 14-blade diaphragm, this lens delivers beautiful backgrounds and soft, pleasing bokeh.

This new addition to the Simera series features high-transmission anti-flare coatings for excellent flare resistance. Even when shooting against strong sources of light or backlighting, the image will retain is stunning contrast and color accuracy, with flare appearing clean and aesthetically pleasing. Speaking of aesthetics, the Simera 50mm will be available in both black and silver, so you can choose the style you like.

Another advantageous addition is the floating focusing mechanism which reduces distortion at the edges of the frame and delivers a 17.7” minimum focus distance, making it perfect for close-up individual portraiture or detail shots. When focusing at 0.7m, users will feel resistance, guiding them to switch to their EVF for closer focus distances.
