The atmospheric conditions weren't good and softened some of the images, but the subject was fairly close for this image so it was sharper than some others.

 

The Z 600TC is about as sharp as they get in the right conditions.

About the many Amcar-images of mine - the love for classic AMCARS is big here in Scandinavia - mostly in Sweden and Norway.
I live close to a small town (Halden) here in Norway, which has the biggest Amcar-club in Norway with more than 5.000 members, and every Wednesday during the summer season, they arrang the socalled "Halden Cruise Night" with their cars cruising through town, and I just love to stand roadside there to take pictures. So much exciting vehicles, mostly from the early 30-ies to the 70-ies.

Well, first of all - you would not like it there. It's miles from the nearest town - no chance of getting any street-shots there, no ...!

It's out there in the Skerries (islands) an rather isolated. Just a handful og fishermen live there. In winter it gets very cold, the water in front of this house freezes over. A cold wind is usually blowing throughout this place.
Anyway, one could not afford house out there anyway - its bloody expensive!
But, as for the image - it's pure bliss!

I agree and disagree. The way it's framed makes it look like a summer day scene of just rest and relaxation. Its hard for me to describe it in words. But I get a nostalgic feeling when I see this. I guess it brings the men into focus while maintaining a relevant surrounding to set the scene. I like it.

As a matter of fact, this building is not yet fully completed, they are still doing some work around it, there is some construction going on on the right side of the pic, (at groundlevel, outside the frame), even if the main structure is more or less finish (I guess).

That's how new this building is.

Hi Mr fo-tik and thank you for your comment and for showing interest in my work.

However, I'm sorry to say that I don't really have any autumn-pictures on this location, as a matter of fact, this picture is taken in the autumn, hence the date; Date/Time Original 2021:10:10 16:43:25.

If you look at the trees in the background on the left side, you can see that they are somewhat yellow-ish, as well as the trees on right hand-side is somewhat orange (even if it is a bit vague).

I don't think you can by land and build a cabin on the location where this picture is taken (it's a nature-reserv, and if you look closely, you can see cows grazing there), but there is a community just nearby, actually just behind my back, where one could buy a small house (if there is anything out for sale).

Its a beast of a lens, sharp like non other I have tried, but heavy and cumbersome, as the small aperture-ring is right by the mount, and with thick fingers, a bit too close to the camera for my taste. It takes time to use this lens, as the manual focus is something I almost have forgotten about in the last 10 years of only AF-lenses. In the old days (when I started out in photography) all lenses were manual focus and one did not think about it so much, but most lenses had f/3.5 to start with, and we all closed down a few notches anyway. But this lens has a small DOF and perfect focus is crucial!
B.T.W.: It is also an expensive pice of glass, and I use it only occasional (when I'm in a special mood!).I have had it for 3 years and I will pass it on to sombody new in the future, because I cannot afford to have it staying in the cupboard all the time :o)

2 of which I have myself - the 16-35 and the 70-200 both f/4 (which are lighter to carry than their f/2.8 siblings) and I love the both! In between those 2 I use my secondhand bought Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 which is not too bad in sharpness - but it's not a Nikon!!
Why so high ISO?
25.600 seems a bit "overkill"? Don't get me wrong - one cannot see too much noise in the low-light area, but 6.400 would not have done the trick, with stationary objects ...?

Thanks again, Terence - I am not sure about the model. It is a Oldsmobile though. I am not really an Amcar-expert or Amcar-owner myself. I just LOVE the old designs from 1948 up to about mid-sixties. Certainly the 50's and very early 60-s were the highlight of American car design (surprisingly coinciding With my own youth - I am a '48-model myself ...)!
These cars make Perfect motives when cought at the rigth time and angle.

I have waited for a few days for your helpful comment. Here is my "take".

As I was buffeted by the wind and rain on that morning, I saw the dark clouds, and this shaggy tree, with its unkempt branches, jutting into the sky in defiance. I snapped the shot, deliberately under-exposed to emphasise the stark nature of the contest. No. It was not pixel-perfect, sharp, nor pretty, and not meant to be.

Thank you. I was on a park bench, lying on my back, when a black bird landed on the tree. This changed the whole scene in front of me. The bird didn't stay long. I grabbed my camera and shot quickly. The somewhat lack of focus, seems to have added some mystique - I think.

The Viking happenede to walk by, in front of me where I stood ringside to photograph the annual Viking reenactment of a historical sword fight (see the rope-fence in the background?) and I had my 18-140mm on . I just took a chance and fired off a few shots as he walked by. By chance I got 1 hit, although this is heavily cropped.

Hi Walter,

Thanks for the 'Like' and helpful suggestion. I did remove some noise, but perhaps not enough. The larger file looks great, perhaps the compression to stay within the 7mb limit of the site amplifies some of the remaining noise. Nonetheless, your critique is right on the mark.

The rocks are know as 'Tufa' and are a form of limestone....at least that is what I recall reading on a placard near the lake :-)

Thank you very much for your long and interresting explanation on the D750. I also treasure the articulating screen when on the tripod. This gives me time to study the composistion better, and it does really help with low-angle photography (Iam 69 now - so I know!) and bending down really is no longer an option.
Congrats on your past birthday - and I think you really deserve this present!

This is so interresting and exotic to look at and study. The rocks look like "salt pillars" from another planet. It's the beautiful light that gives this look.

Have you considered to de-noise the sky and sea a bit?

Many thanks for your 'Like' and kind words. While I am still very much a Df user, I found the recent drop in price (at least in the U.S.), due to the roll out of the D850, was too good to pass up. The kit with the 24-120 was like getting the lens nearly free. However, the main reasons I purchased one was: the articulating screen. As another birthday passed, and more appear in the rear view mirror than on the horizon, I decided I no longer enjoyed laying on the ground for low angle perspectives. The pop-up flash is really handy too. In this photo I used the pop-up and pulled it back to - 1.7EV to expose the foreground brush. So, for the price of D850, I got a slightly older technology (much like myself) camera, great lens, same recording media (SD) as my beloved Df, and a trip out West to play with it! Overall, a great birthday present to myself :-) At least that's how I rationalized it!
